A SaaS that looks finished and cannot invoice is still a prototype. Ten customers will find the crack immediately: mixed data, a billing edge case, a role that can see the wrong workspace. Polish on top of that is expensive to unwind.

The backbone is not optional

Tenancy, roles, and a source of truth for who pays for what — those decisions are the product. Dashboards can wait. If two companies share a row because “we’ll split it later,” you do not have multi-tenant software. You have a hosted app with a time bomb.

Billing belongs in the same conversation as onboarding. Trials, seats, plans, and failed payments are not finance’s problem after launch. They are product flows. We treat Stripe (or the equivalent) as part of the architecture, not a plugin on the settings page.

Release like you mean it

Environments, monitoring, and a release path that can survive real usage. A demo that falls over at ten customers was never a platform. Ship the operational backbone first. Then paint the rooms people live in.
